چکیده

The aim of this work is to apply the homotopy perturbation method and homotopy analysis method to the problem of thermal explosion in a flammable gas mixture with the addition of volatile fuel droplets. The system of equations that describes the effects of heating, evaporation, and combustion of fuel in a polydisperse spray is simplified. Both convective and radiative heating of droplets is taken into account in the model. The model for the radiative heating of droplets takes into account the semitransparency of the droplets. The results of the analysis have been applied to the modeling of the thermal explosion in diesel engines. We applied the Homotopy Perturbation Method and the Homotopy Analysis Method to the new model and we found the region of the convergence of the considered solutions of the relevant physical parameters. The results demonstrate that these methods are very effective for solving nonlinear problems in science and engineering. Nave et al., J Appl Computat Math 2012, 1:4

APPLICATION OF HPM AND HAM TO THE FIRST FORM OF BLASIUS EQUATION

In this work, the Blasius equation is studied. Homotopy perturbation method (HPM) and homotopy analysis method (HAM) are applied to obtain its solution. Comparison with variational iteration method (VIM) is made to highlight the significant features of employed methods and their capability of handling nonlinear problems. The outcome shows the success of (HPM) and (HAM) for solving nonlinear pro...

Application of Homotopy Perturbation Method to One-dimensional Transient Single-phase EM Heating Model

Thermal recovery involves well-known processes such as steam injection (cyclic steam stimulation, steam drive, and steam-assisted gravity drainage), in situ combustion, and a more recent technique that consists of heating the reservoir with electrical energy. When high frequency is used for heating, it is called electromagnetic (EM) heating. The applications of EM heating for heavy-oil reservoi...

Homotopy perturbation method for eigenvalues of non-definite Sturm-Liouville problem

In this paper, we consider the application of the homotopy perturbation method (HPM) to compute the eigenvalues of the Sturm-Liouville problem (SLP) which is called non-definite SLP. Two important Examples show that HPM is reliable method for computing the eigenvalues of SLP.

Application of Homotopy Perturbation Method to Nonlinear Equations Describing Cocurrent and Countercurrent Imbibition in Fractured Porous Media

In oil industry, spontaneous imbibition is an important phenomenon in recovery from fractured reservoirs which can be defined as spontaneous uptake of a wetting fluid into a porous solid. Spontaneous imbibition involves both cocurrent and countercurrent flows. When a matrix block is partially covered by water, oil recovery is dominated by cocurrent imbibition i.e. the production of non wettin...

HOMOTOPY PERTURBATION METHOD FOR SOLVING FLOW IN THE EXTRUSION PROCESSES

In this paper, the homotopy perturbation method (HPM) is considered for finding approximate solutions of two-dimensional viscous flow. This technique provides a sequence of functions which converges to the exact solution of the problem. The HPM does not need a small parameters in the equations, but; the perturbation method depends on small parameter assumption and the obtained results. In most ...
